Kayaking the Liberty Bay, Poulsbo, WA (4-30-2011) --- just over 8 miles in 3 hrs.

This was my 3rd day Kayaking: crash course on Tue, 2 hours of paddling (5 miles) at a local lake on Fri, and paddling at the Liberty Bay today (8 miles). I’ve always wanted to Kayak or boat this Bay around where I could see from my working place, Keyport. After comfortable paddling on Fri afternoon, I decided to paddle the Bay on early Saturday.

Tide info for today was time 0344 (10.8 ft, High), 0555 sunrise, 1023 (1.26 ft, Low). 1713 (10.1 ft, High). Using Topo Map, my route was estimated just over 8 miles.

I launched my Kayak at the Keyport boat ramp. Left 0640, finish 0950. The worse thing was using a restroom. It turned out great. Just before 9 am, I asked a guy for a boat ramp and restroom at the Poulsbo harbor. He let me use his boat. He was a very nice person. After empying out my bladder, I sped up. it was quite fast from Poulsbo Harbor to Keyport probably because the tide was still going out. My camera got wet just a bit around the Scandia ave corner due to my clumsy handling. It would not turn on at all. Hope I can get it to work after drying it out.

Overall, it was a cloudy day but had a good time paddling. Surely, I had a good workout. I enjoyed very serene and relaxing water in the morning.
