Three excellent days of Crevasse Rescue practice and refresher after work and in the weekend (5/14, 5/16, 5/18)
It was an excellent Crevasse Rescue Practice/Refresher. It was posted on the PWC website and sponsored by Dale Boyle. Much thanks to Dale for his time, providing classrooms & climbing equipment, hands-on practice, excellent teaching, generosity, and kindness. Now, it's up to us to practice and get good at it. Surely, I have done some notes taking, studying, and reviewing repeatedly. I really needed this hands-on practice and plan to refresh myself in Crevasse Rescue techniques whenever climbing a Glaciated mountain with crevasses.
Short description of practice/refresher:
Day 1 (Tue, 14 May): Classroom session at Dale's house.
Day 2 (Thur, 16 May): Prusik climbing in the garage and on the tree, C and Z Pulley systems setup in the garage, how to make prusiks, harness adjustment, etc. at Dale's house.
Day 3 (Sat, 18 May): Practiced rescuing a climber out of a "simulated" crevasse over a cornice at Maggie's point, Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park.
