Rough Water Skill Practice (Sat, 11-2-2013)
Rough water/wind sea-kayak skill practice at Burley Lagoon near Purdy. It was class IV with strong winds (30-40 knots). It was an invaluable experience that I was really looking for. I thought I could handle it. However, I got capsized in 20 seconds moving about 3 feet and immediately got pounded to the shore ! Paul amazingly stayed out for about 10 minutes and opted to torpedo into to the shore. One paddler from the Tacoma Mountaineer group stayed out about 1 minute and quickly washed out to the shore. Then, it was time to go home for everybody.|
