Sea Kayaking from Miami Beach to Stavis Bay, Seabeck (Sat, 8-17-2013), 8.2 miles roundtrip. Time spent 1300-1600.
It was another
excellent day for kayaking. Total of 14 kayakers !!! Low 70s with nice shades
from clouds. I have been taking a break with my family on Saturdays but had a
few hours today. We were planning to paddle to Frenchman’s Cove but the water got
choppy with some white caps. Most of the paddlers ended up exploring the Stavis
Bay. Three of us paddled about 1 more mile and joined the rest at Stavis Bay.
Thanks to Bob McBride for sponsoring the trip. After the paddle, many of them
had a pizza dinner at Bob’s house. I wished I was there but needed to go home
early. For the 2ndconsecutive weekend paddle, it was warm enough
that I did not need my dry-suit to practice bracing and rolls during the break
at Stavis Bay.
