Biking the Olympic Discover Trail & more, (Mon, 10-14-2013), 58 miles roundtrip, Time Spent 0920-1750.

It was sort of a last minute trip posted on the PWC calendar.     Paul, Charlie, and I had a wonderful bike ride on a beautiful Columbus day.    They biked the routes multiple times but it was my first beyond the Kitchen-Dick road (to Dungeness Spit).   A few more people were interested but could not make it due to another commitment or working on a federal holiday.    We are so lucky to have such a bike trail (Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT)).   Its route is supposed to be around 130 miles from Port Townsend to the shores of the Pacific Ocean in the future.    We biked the completed section from  Jamestown S'Klallam Tribal Center, Sequim Bay, to Port Angeles near the Blackball Ferry Station (to Victoria British Columbia), which was about 28 miles one way.    Most of the completed ODTs were paved, so a road bike would be just fine.

We stopped by at a multiple places for sightseeing and break :  passed through the Sequim Bay State Park, watched remote controlled sail boats racing at Carrie Blake City Park,  biked on well-built Railroad Bridge that drains Dungeness River from the Olympic Mountain Range to the Sound,  passed the Robin Hill Park,  biked on multiple railroad trestles,  and so on.     We were planning to have a lunch at an Indian Restaurant near the Blackball ferry station but it was closed.    Instead, we ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant, and leisurely biked back stopping for a few times.    Highly recommend to ride the ODT or take a walk on any part of the ODTs, especially, on the Railroad Bridge section that drains the Olympic Mountain water to the Ocean in Sequim area.
