Day 15 (Sun, 8/10). Golden Lakes to Mowich Lake.   Backpacked  10 miles with 2751 ft gain/ 2786 ft loss.

The day was basically one long down, fording the S Mowich River, and one long up hill.     We were looking forward to going home.    We got up little early at 0500 for early departure.    We still left the camp site around 0630.      We all arrived at the S Mowich River around 0840-0920.   

Earlier in the week,  we thought that the log bridge was fixed but was not true.    We talked to a few backpackers about fording the S Mowich River.  One backpacker said that, on the day before, a few people helped a stranded backpacker crossing the River around 2000.     Some went down a lower area to ford the River.     The last person crossed the River from the North said that he crossed straight at the sunken/broken log bridge.

In our group, Bill was the first person who crossed straight at the sunken log bridge.    We could see that the water was moving fast and its depth was between well below ankle and just below the knee.   Then, Robert did the same.    Rest of us decided to go to the lower area.    I was not too concerned with myself but worried about the others.  I wanted to find a better spot for the rest.    I crossed next but was quite deep at some places as much as above my knee.    The others crossed just below where I crossed.    Water was icy cold but, to me,  it was quite ok and was sort of fun.   Actually, I felt great with cold water on my feet.

After crossing the S Mowich River (10am),  it was all uphill with gentle slope.    I felt strong and passed the others.   I wanted to get to my car little early (arrived at 1210) and get ready for the others .    When our party arrived, we said good by to Mowich Lake and drove away.   It was end of our 15 days in backpacking the Wonderland Trail.
